Turnips are a good source of complex carbohydrates and only about 36 calories in a cup. Turnips can be sautéed, grilled, blanched, roasted, or even enjoyed raw. They are nutritious and add a burst of flavor to most any of your favorite dishes. To prepare, cut away any leaves or root stems from turnip roots. Wash turnip thoroughly in cold water.

Beets are an excellent source of Folate and a good source of Potassium, Vitamin C and Iron. Beets can be roasted, boiled, pickled, tossed in a salad, or even enjoyed raw. Beets are packed with nutrients and add a burst of flavor to most any of your favorite dishes. To prepare, wash beets gently with cold water and remove the skin. Skin can also be removed after cooking.
